About me !
My name is Malak Ismail, and I am a painter and ceramic artist currently studying Visual Arts and Art History at the University of Toledo.
Much of my work explores the relationship we have with our own minds. I am interested in how thoughts—especially overthinking, anxiety, and self-doubt—can influence our decisions and sometimes hold us back from action. The mind is meant to guide us, yet it can also become the source of hesitation, uncertainty, and internal conflict. Through painting and clay, I explore these experiences and the quiet tension between control and vulnerability that many of us carry.
Alongside these themes, I create paintings and ceramic works inspired by Egyptian culture, traditions, and everyday life. Drawing from my Egyptian heritage, I incorporate cultural motifs, stories, symbols, and visual elements that celebrate the richness of Egyptian identity while connecting them to contemporary experiences and personal narratives.
